I’m Sam, a platform engineer. I look after the Kubernetes clusters that forty product teams deploy to, and I spend most of my time making them boring: upgrades that nobody notices, autoscaling that arrives before the traffic, and GPU pools that are actually busy.
Before this I was an SRE intern at Northwind Analytics, where I rebuilt the alerting stack and got the pager from thirty pages a week down to four. I maintain kube-shim, a small scheduler extender, and contribute upstream wherever a fix lands.
What I write about
Build logs, mostly — what it actually took to make a thing work, with the parts of the tutorial that were wrong. The GPUs on Kubernetes series is the current one. Older posts are about on-call and operators.
